     ORIN SWIFT
WINE DINNER
Thursday, March 12th • Great Hall 6:15 • Reception with Hors d’oeuvres
7:00 • Five Course Dinner Paired with Orin Swift Wines
Orin Swift, to much of the wine world, is a winery that needs little introduction. Winemaker, Dave Phinney, first grasped critical and cult acclaim with one of his first wines, The Prisoner. His wine style matched his labels and marketing prowess; dark, brooding, and in your face.
While crafting a few single-varietal wines, Phinney really brought non-traditional blends to the forefront of the wine industry. Producing much sought-after wines, Orin Swift became the winery to have on your wine list and in your glass. Dave Phinney has since taken his style of winemaking around the globe; crafting wines in every major wine producing country.
I am very excited to announce an Orin Swift Wine Dinner on Thursday, March 12 in the Great Hall. This will be a 5-Course Dinner, featuring 7 different Orin Swift Wines. Maybe one or two wines that are new to you! Reception and Hors D’Oeuvres will begin at 6:00pm and we will promptly seat at 6:45 to begin the dinner.
$199++ per person Limited to first 40 members.

MESSAGE FROM WAYNE PHILLIPS
World Handicap System
For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to play down south or in the west, the new World Golf Handicap System is off and running! Here are a few key items that will affect all players in this year –
1. Your handicap index may change – this season only the lowest 8 scores of the last 20 posted will count towards your handicap index.
2. You need to know your course handicap. All players are encouraged to download the GAP app onto your mobile device so you have an easy avenue to finding your handicap index. There will no longer be paper handicap sheets posted in the locker rooms as handicaps will update daily after a player has posted a score.
3. ESC – Equitable Stroke Control is a thing of the past. The maximum score for a golfer will be limited to a net double bogey. The calculation is simple – par + 2 + any handicap strokes you receive on a hole is your new maximum score on a hole.
4. Your handicap index will be updated every time you post a score.
5. Safeguards in the system – the new system will limit extreme upward movement of a handicap index. It will automatically and immediately reduce a handicap index when an exceptional score of at least 7 strokes better is posted. Abnormal course or weather conditions will also be accounted for when a course plays significantly different than its established Course rating or Slope rating. These safeguards help maintain accuracy of a handicap index and promote greater integrity within the system.
Hoping for more birdies, gross or net, in the 2020 season for all!
Wayne Phillips PGA Professional
A Note from the Men’s Lounge
It’s time to start thinking about
spring golf and your golf shoes. Drop
off your golf shoes for a pre-season
                           tune-up!
I know your street shoes could use some
work also, so while you’re here at the
Club for lunch, bring a bag full of
shoes to the Locker Room. We will get
them ready for another work week!

]]></page><page Index="15" isMAC="true"><![CDATA[ LCC 2020 GAP TEAM MATCHES
The 2020 GAP Team Match season is almost here! Lehigh CC will once again enter 3 teams into the competition. This will enable more members to play in this great tradition of competition within the region. The structure and format of this competition are the envy of golf associations throughout the United States.
This year the matches will be played on April 19, 26 and May 3. (There is a possibility of the first team to have a challenge match on May 9). We should know the teams we are playing by the end of February - Team 1 will be in Division B, Team 2 in D and Team 3 likely in E.
Based on team performances in three competitive matches, teams have the ability to move up or down in brackets for the following year.
There are 12 players per team. Six players will play for each team at home and six will play away. The teams will be selected based on handicaps, previous participation, availability, and willingness to travel. In the 2019 matches Team 1 played 0-6 handicaps, Team 2 played 6-10’s and Team 3 played 10-19’s.
Al DiCarlo, will be the new captain of Team 1 this year. Dave Kearney, will once again captain Team 2. Dr. Navid Hadian will captain Team 3. I would like to thank Tom Soares for leading the GAP team at Lehigh for the past several years. He did a great job and his efforts are very much appreciated.
There will be a kickoff get together in the Men’s Grill on Thursday, March 26th where Chef Randy will prepare a GAP style food offering and Ivan will have the heaters ready on the porch if it’s chilly for the cigar smokers. March Madness will also be in full swing on this night. Look for Ivan’s email. The night is open to all.
Looking forward to the 2020 golf season!

MESSAGE FROM ARI DATTA
  Dear Lehigh Members,
I hope you all are enjoying the winter. February has been a fun month with lot of activities happening with Platform Tennis.
We had our two Paddle Social Mixers on February, 8th. The themes for the mixers were Black Light Paddle and Karaoke Paddle Mixer. Black light Paddle was a unique event where we had installed 6 UV lights per court and everything was glowing. Almost 40 Lehigh members came to the event and had a great time. I want to thank to everyone who came and made these two events successful.
I want to invite the entire membership to come out for Fun Friday on March 6th at the Court Pavilion. Along with the Fun Friday, we will be hosting our in-house paddle league championship matches.
Look forward to seeing you all.

 DECEMBER EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Congratulations Curtis “Curt” McClafferty!
Curt just completed his sixth year as a member of the
LCC Team. His daily duties include receiving deliveries
of food, beverage and supplies, putting those orders away, keeping our pots and pans in the kitchen and dishes clean as a Steward on the Culinary Team. Chef Randy says that “Curtis is an excellent employee, and can be counted on at all times.
Curt grew up in Allentown and has just celebrated 28 years with the love of his life, Kelly Schafer. He is an avid EAGLES and Yankees fan. Curt says his favorite thing about Lehigh Country Club is “everyone is so nice; it’s a great place to work.”
Keep up the great work Curt!
