My mother, standing at 5.4 ft. raised three 6 ft.+ boys on her own and taught us everything we needed to become positive members of society.
My favorite quote from my mother in translation is “Tell me who you’re with and I’ll tell you who you are”. A more valuable quote than you would think.
Mark Young, Technical Supervisor, Sunbury
My mom would aways say she did not care what I did when running around with friends but do not do anything that would embarrass the family.

Selinsgrove Tour - Sunbury
SECV Sunbury had the pleasure of hosting these 8th graders from Selinsgrove on Friday, March 24th to learn about different careers available for them in our industry. They toured our facility and saw a demonstration on splicing fiber. They had a chance to talk to a few members of our team about their jobs - what they liked the most, what presents the most challenges, and the educational path they took to get into their current career. The students had a lot of good questions and
our team had a lot of good answers. We wish these students the best of luck in whatever they choose to do. Thanks for visiting us!

Going Green - Sunbury
The Sunbury Division of SECV recently
completed a project to convert the
florescent lights in our garage and
warehouse area to LED. We anticipate an
annual reduction of energy use by 70%.
The new bulbs were purchased through Cooper Electric which is a participating provider in PPL’s LED program that cuts the purchase price from $8.50 to $5.50 per bulb. And as an even greater savings, our in house staff were able to install the new lighting. Thank you Stan Bardo and Jason Snyder!
The lighting upgrade is in addition to our extensive recycling program of cardboard, coax cable and other metals.
SECV will continue to look for ways to reduce our footprint and be a better neighbor!
Toys for Tots - Sunbury
The Sunbury system collected toys and money to be donated to our local Toys for Tots Campaign. Thanks to all who donated!

        Giddy-up They Go - Sunbury
Alex Kishbaugh, Technician, Sunbury, and his wife Alecia were at the Christmas Boulevard in Berwick on horseback. Organizers positioned the riders between the pedestrians and the motor vehicles on opening night to view the Christmas displays. The three have ridden in parades but the Boulevard on horseback was a first.
 “Pi” Day - Sunbury
The Sunbury Office celebrated “Pi” day on Tuesday, March 14th with Pie. We had all kinds of pie from apple to shoofly and many in between! We even had pizza and quiche since those are “pies” too!
Why is March 14th called Pi Day?
It’s been an official national holiday since 2009. March 14 marks Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical sign pi. Founded in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw, March 14 was selected because the numerical date (3.14) represents the first three digits of pi, and it also happens to be Albert Einstein’s birthday.
A quick crash course on those who may be a bit rusty on their mathematics, Pi is a constant number that represents the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi is very unique, in that it is the same for every circle, regardless of its size, and that it is an irrational, transcendental number. This means that it continues on infinitely, without repetition or pattern! So far our 31 trillion digits of Pi have been determined and it is still going!
